The Multicultural Center in Brno organizes meetings aimed at bringing people together and introducing different cultures. When it comes to the language of communication, one of the most interesting languages after English that connects people from all over the world is Russian. It may not be obvious to everyone, but the Russian language unites different peoples due to the fact that it is very widespread.
When events dedicated to Ukrainian, Uzbek or Kazakh culture are held in our center, very often the organizers and participants of the event speak Russian to each other. This also applies to people from many other countries: for example, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Georgia, Mongolia, Latvia, Moldova, Azerbaijan or Israel. Most of the people in these countries are at least bilingual, but their languages are so exotic in the Czech Republic that Russian becomes the natural language of communication, in the area of cultural cooperation, mutual assistance and good neighborly relationships.
In 2022, when the interpreter of the Multicultural Center Alena interpreted the author's production directed by the young director Palina Dabravolskaja from Belarus in the well-known Brno theater Husa on a String, the language of communication was also in this case Russian.
Many residents of post-Soviet countries read the same books, watched the same movies, so the language barrier is not so pronounced and it is easier to find a common language. In the Multicultural Center Brusinka, several languages of communication work: Czech, English, Russian and Ukrainian. Thanks to this, most people who come to us for excursions and concerts, workshops and workshops, camps and various clubs and courses - language, music, art, theater or chess, find the possibility of problem-free communication and understanding of their request.
We are glad to have a large library with more than 700 books and textbooks in the Russian language, because many adults and children come to the courses and workshops with Russian-speaking teachers. We also have Russian and Ukrainian-speaking speech therapists and psychologists who help with both speech and adaptation.
At the Multicultural Center in Brno, we compensate people's social needs - the need to be heard, mutual communication, the desire to learn about the surrounding world and human culture, self-realization and self-affirmation.
Come to our courses and events, we look forward to seeing you!
